
Detective Sgt. Bill
Thompson has 24+ years of security and law enforcement experience.
Bill began his career providing security for US interests abroad.
His assignments included providing personal security as well as providing site
security. In 1986, Bill co-founded Special Services Group in
Atlanta, GA. SSG provides law enforcement and security training.
Additionally, SSG provides physical security in the Metro Atlanta area for over
650 homes and 2,400 residents. He has provided private security and
dignitary protection for several large conventions. The largest
required his forming and managing a security staff of 75. Bill
continues to provide personal protection for a varied list of multinational
visitors to the US. He is a Georgia Board of Security and Private
Detectives certified instructor. In 1985, Bill entered law
enforcement service. He has worked as a patrol shift supervisor and
as a criminal investigator. Det./Sgt. Thompson was a
Watch Commander for the Olympic Village during
the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta while assigned to the State Olympic Law Enforcement
Command (SOLEC). Following the Centennial Park bombing he was
assigned to Internal Security of the Athletes Village. During his
law enforcement career he has been assigned to several visiting presidential
security details. In 1992 he served on the security detail for
Nelson Mandela during his visit to Atlanta. Bill's education
includes extensive training in VIP Protection, SRT/SWAT operations, secure
communications and interception, and defensive tactics. He is a
member of MetroTech, the Atlanta Area High Crimes Task Force. Bill
is an adjunct instructor for Rockingham Community College in North
Carolina. His course subjects include VIP Protection, Internet
Investigations, and Secure Communications. He holds a black belt
ranking in Hapkido, Jujitsu, White Crane Kung Fu, and American
Karate. Bill was an alternate to the 1980 US Olympic Cycling Team. He
is a principal instructor on Video #3.
