In 1995 Dave Bartram retired from the Albuquerque Police Department as their SWAT commander with 25 years of service. Prior to joining APD, Dave served as a combat helicopter pilot in Vietnam with more than 1000 hours of combat flight time. His career in law enforcement has included a 2 year stint as a deep undercover agent, patrol sergeant, and finally the commander of one of America's most active SWAT teams. He also served a stint as Chief Pilot for APD's helicopter division. He personally developed many of the tactical principles adopted by most of the nation's state and federal SWAT/SRT teams in operation today. Members of the U.S. military's Counter-terrorism community frequently traveled to Albuquerque to observe APD's (Dave's) SWAT team during training and actual operations to hone their skills in urban operations. He has coordinated elements of VIP protection for several presidential visits to Albuquerque as well a numerous other dignitary assignments. Dave serves as a tactical firearms instructor with the Department of Energy's Central Training Academy and is a much sought after weapons instructor. Hawk East, Inc. is honored to have Dave provide instruction in our VIP Protection video series. He is featured as a principal instructor on Body for Hire video #2.
