An incredible asset to Hawk East, Inc., Tom has more than 27 years of military, corporate, and dignitary protection experience. One of the early DELTA force members, he is currently a Sergeant Major in an active US Army Reserve Special Forces Detachment in Washington State. Tom is President of Strategic Security Group, Inc. based in Portland, Oregon which specializes in legal child recoveries in foreign countries. With years of experience training law enforcement hostage rescue teams and military Spec-Ops teams worldwide, Tom can also provide quality training in a short amount of time. As a former team leader of a climbing detail within DELTA, he teaches a unique Urban Climbing for Tactical Teams program. Many agencies are just now realizing the great increase in capabilities the Urban Climbing Course offers to their tactical teams. Agent-in-Charge for the dignitary protection detail assigned to protect Mr. Leonard Haskie, Interim Chairman of the Navajo Nation during their violent struggle for power in 1988.
Security detail supervisor for U.S. Senator Richard Lugar during the Senate Overwatch Committee mission to the 1988 El Salvadorian National Elections.
Residential security coordinator for the U.S. Embassy in San Salvador, El Salvador.
Shift leader for the security forces assigned to protect Mr. Reginald Barthalomew, the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, and Mr. Ed Coor, the U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador.
Shift Leader for the presidential security detail assigned to protect President Aristide during his return to power in Haiti in 1994.
Tom developed a functional concept for a Special Response Team to support the worldwide crisis and contingency requirements of Wall Street brokers Solomon Brothers. He also conducted a thorough review of security procedures for Solomon Brothers in response to the bombing of the World Trade Center towers. Tom’s worldwide experiences as an instructor give him the skills to provide training ranging from the very basics in weapons to providing some of the most challenging spec-ops training offered anywhere. He is a member of the American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers (ASLET), the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), and served as an advisor to the governor of New York for the NY State Security Guard Training and Standards Committee. Tom is also a NRA Certified firearms instructor. He serves as a principle instructor in the Body for Hire video #1 and video #3.
